BankGloucester is grateful for the opportunity to provide commercial banking services to so many great businesses throughout Cape Ann. As spring approaches, we’d like to take a moment to thank a local business customer of ours that helped to keep the community warm this past winter.

Flannigan’s is a family-owned fuel station located at the top of the hill near Hortons in Gloucester providing fuel delivery service to homes and offices in addition to their full-service gas station. It has been owned and operated by Robert and Karen Kennedy for the past 18 years.

The previous owner, a friend of Robert’s, was looking to get out of the business. Upon hearing of the opportunity, the couple took a leap of faith officially purchasing Flannigan’s in 2006, “…in a temporary moment of insanity”, Karen quipped. They pride themselves on delivering consistently excellent service and competitive pricing. Customers rave about the business online citing the friendliness of the locally sourced staff that make it feel like “One of the good old stations… Like when I was a kid”.

As an essential business, Flannagan’s remained open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and noting that customer traffic had significantly decreased, they decided to use the time to their advantage. In addition to upgrading their station canopy, they also added contactless payment options and a new self service air pump.
