Serving Gloucester and it’s neighbors since 1887, we at BankGloucester pride ourselves on giving back to the community. We strive for excellence in our duties as a financial institution, and in its support of local nonprofit organizations and community causes.
In 2008, as part of BankGloucester‘s commitment to the Cape Ann community, we announced the beginning of our annual “Banking for the Community” event. The event, which runs each year throughout the month of September, invites residents of Cape Ann, Ipswich and surrounding communities to vote for their favorite local businesses and organizations. At the end of the month, votes are tallied and prizes are awarded based on number of votes received.
We’re excited to announce the winners of the 2022 Banking for the Community event. $30,000 was distributed among 19 local organizations on Cape Ann based on the number of votes each organization received.
The winner of our $5,000 first place prize was Cape Ann Animal Aid!
The Open Door received the second most votes receiving a $4,000 award, followed by Generous Gardeners who will be receiving $3,000. Both Ipswich Animal Shelter and Backyard Growers received $2,000 each for 4th and 5th place respectively.
The following organizations received $1,000 each: Seaside Sustainability, the Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center, SeniorCare, Cape Ann Veterans, Beverly Bootstraps, the Rose Baker Senior Center, Care Dimensions, the Essex Shipbuilding Museum, NAMI, Chorus North Shore, the Gloucester Education Foundation, Essex Senior Center, Ipswich Caring and our two write-in winners, Chorus North Shore & Together Gloucester Inc.
