Mr. Ryan’s keen interest in our nation’s military history has resulted in numerous awards, including the U.S. Army Chief of Public Service, the U.S. Army Commander’s Award for Public Service, and the Grumbacher Gold Medal. In addition to these awards, Jim designed a commemorative coin, celebrating the 70-year history of Fort Devens. The coin was used at the base closing ceremony and has now become a collectors’ item.

Jim’s historical Military Paintings include commemorative pieces of art covering World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Somalia, each of the uniformed services and the medal of honor. Library prints of his military art are often sought after and have also been deemed to be collectors’ items. His paintings of the U.S. Marine Corps have appeared on the cover of the Marine Corps Gazette and the program cover for the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.

Jim has been an active supporter of AUSA for many years, serving as the Vice President of First Region and a stalwart of Minutemen Chapter. He resides in Peabody, Massachusetts with his wife Nancy. They have three sons and two grandchildren.

A collection of Jim’s paintings will be on display at the Bank from October 4th through December 10th, 2022. All are invited to come see these wonderful works of art.
