Phone Number Spoofing Scam

We have been made aware of a recent phone number spoofing scam affecting banks nationwide, including BankGloucester. Fraudsters have been placing calls and sending text messages that appear to come from our main phone number, (978) 283-8200, in an attempt to gain access to personal or account information.

In these incidents, scammers impersonate BankGloucester employees and claim there are issues involving wires, ACH transactions, debit card activity, or other suspicious transactions. They then attempt to obtain sensitive information or request access to your device. These communications are not from BankGloucester.

BankGloucester will never ask you for sensitive personal information or log in credentials, or ask you to install software or grant access to your computer or device. If you believe you have shared personal or account information with a suspicious caller, please contact BankGloucester immediately at 978-283-8200.

Stay alert! Please remember:

• Never click on links or provide account numbers, online banking credentials, passwords, PINs, or security codes to an unsolicited caller.
• If you receive a suspicious call or text that appears to be from BankGloucester, hang up and call us directly at (978) 283-8200 to verify the request.
• Caller ID can be misleading—scammers can “spoof” legitimate phone numbers to make their calls appear authentic.
